Homemade Frozen Pizzas

I always feel boastful after I recognize I have a stash of actually precise freezer meals. My favorites are things like burritos, stews, soups, quesadillas, garlic bread (quality standby ever!), lasagna, and these homemade frozen pizzas.

I’ve grand plans to do a last homemade Pizza guide one in every of nowadays, whole with self-made pizza dough options and the RecipeTin own family pizza menu. until such day arrives, you’ll need to make do with my brief ‘n clean pizza made with save sold flatbreads.

I like to make big batches and freeze them so I have a stash of homemade frozen pizzas ready to cook on command!

Flatbreads for pizza base

Throw-collectively pizzas are a staple quick meal for many households, I expect. although I wonder – do the general public use save-bought pizza bases?

I’m able to position my hand on my heart and say that I have by no means in my existence used a store-offered pizza base. that is – something bought labeled as a pizza base. due to the fact I cringe at the price of just ONE pizza base – usually around $3 every. And due to this fact, I recognize that using Greek pita bread makes a great base for a skinny and crispy pizza – for $zero.forty every ($four for a ten p.c.).

right here’s the flatbread I use. It’s labeled as “Greek Pitta Bread” and it’s imagined to be used as a wrap for such things as Greek hen Gyros. however, it’s ideal for pizzas due to the fact they are thicker than tortillas / ordinary wraps (see evaluation below for tortilla – it’s approximately two times as thick). I get mine from Harris Farms and I’ve seen them in different fruit & veg shops as well as middle eastern grocery stores.
Lebanese Bread is an outstanding alternative that I use often too. I discover that it’s a bit drier and used as a pizza base due to the fact they are like wallets in order that they’re made from skinny layers, while the Pitta Bread is extra like a thick tortilla. but, they’re nonetheless awesome used as a pizza base and they are crispier. these are bought in supermarkets in Australia (Woolies, Coles) but they may be inexpensive in Harris Farms and from Mediterranean / middle jap shops!!

Homemade Pizza Sauce

You can locate this ironic, but I exploit save-sold pizza bases with homemade pizza sauce. I’m weird like that. I have this “line” when it comes to keeping sold matters.

Bread is at the “buy” facet.

Sauces are on the “make” side.

So I’ve made this recipe with the usage of a homemade pizza sauce. however certainly, I suppose it may cost around the same or possibly a piece less expensive in case you make 10 pizzas with the use of a store-offered pizza sauce!

Pizza Toppings

As for toppings, it constantly catches me using wonder how little is needed to pinnacle a pizza. And additionally due to the fact you don’t want to overload the pizza because a) it compromises the crispy base b) the more you placed on, the higher chance of all of it sliding off whilst you’re taking a chunk (talking first-hand revel in, hot melty cheese and toppings on chin = painful).

I certainly measured the exact quantity of toppings I used for every pizza. 25g / three/four ozsalami. 10g / 0.33 oz. olives, 1 1/2 mushrooms. 1/tenth of a green capsicum and onion. 2.5 tablespoons of pizza sauce. And 75g / 2.5oz shredded cheese.

just to be clear – that’s 10g / 0.33 oz olives. now not 8g. simply to be honestly precise…
set up a meeting line, and knock these out separately. My recipe makes 10 pizzas because I like to apply the whole packet of flatbread.

Best way to cook pizzas from frozen

As for a way to prepare dinner these homemade Frozen Pizzas, are thin and Crispy pizzas, and this is the first-class way I realize how to make the crispiest pizzas in a regular home oven – by using cooking them directly on the rack. (glaringly make certain it is easy!)

Or, in case you need to be more every day and/or have these pizza baking trays with holes in them, they’ll paint just quality too. however not as crispy as baking them immediately at the rack (plus you can healthy 2 on every rack, if you have 2 racks that’s 4 pizzas in the oven in a single cross).

I am known as this recipe $2 self-made Frozen Pizzas so I have $20 finances to account for which I’ve damaged down in the recipe underneath. I stay in Sydney, Australia, that’s a notoriously expensive city to live in, so especially the ones of you who stay within the States will probably be capable of making these even less expensive. Plus, I used branded merchandise for the entirety, rather than value brands.

So…. what do you watch? especially for those of you with busy schedules, I’m hoping you locate this beneficial!

Oh – and I recognize that this recipe is quite Australia-precise in terms of the flatbread that I take advantage of. I would love pointers from readers in other countries for flatbreads that might be best to use for pizza that I’m able to then add to the recipe notes to help other human beings!

I'm in Australia. I take advantage of a brand referred to as Golden Pinnacle Bakery's "Greek Pitta Bread" (see image in post) that is ideal for the thin and crispy pizza base. it is twice the thickness of a tortilla - so thicker than normal flatbreads used as wraps. available at Harris Farms in Australia and Mediterranean / middle jap stores. instead, Lebanese Bread is an incredible alternative - offered in Woolworths / Coles and ethnic shops (some distance cheaper!) as well as Harris Farms. they are around 25cm / 10" in diameter and are like pockets. The Pitta Bread is higher because it's greater like a pizza base. I would like to hear flatbread recommendations from readers in other countries to feature here! I love to apply mozzarella for stretch/quality melt and every other melting cheese for flavor. My preferred is Monterey Jack - I picked up a huge block at Costco for a good buy charge. once I don't have Monterey Jack, I normally use cheddar or tasty cheese (a popular Australian cheese). this can be substituted with a store-offered pizza sauce. PIZZA SAUE: It ought to be thick, not dense like tomato paste but thicker than ketchup. Leftovers freeze wonderfully, I exploit a zip lock bag and unfold it thin so it's clear to snap off a piece to use. Defrost then pour off the watery floor, then use consistent with the recipe. five. price Breakdown (Australian dollars): 10 % pita bread (Harris Farms) $4.00 1 capsicum $1.00 1 onion $zero.50 crushed tomato $2.87 Tomato Paste $0.50 Cheese (Costco) $4.50 Garlic, herbs, salt (loose!) Salami $4.00 Olive oil $2 Mushrooms $2.50 Olives $1.50 total $23.37 according to Pizza $2.33, round down to $2. Australia is a notoriously high-priced u. s. a . to stay in so you may be able to do that even more fee effectively than me! vitamins in step with pizza i.e. one entire pizza
